Barclays Northampton - Trading Floor Desk Installation

Teknion contacted SFI to help them manage the installation side of a major furniture project for Barclays' Northampton site: 2,000 sit-stand trader desks, monitor arms and full power and data, spread across 10 floors of a building that needed to keep working throughout.

During the project, we helped them install 2,000 desks and all associated power, without needing to shut down the trading floor.

Running the job in phases

To help us achieve this, we split the project into 8 phases across the 10 floors, running from March to November 2025. Each phase covered a different area, so only one part of the building was out of action while the rest of the floor kept working around it.

Where storage came in

Part of the brief was managing all associated storage for the project. With 2,000 desks that needed to be delivered in phases, alongside monitor arms and all of the power components that go with them, the project needed a lot of management.

We held stock between phases so that the furniture only turned up when each floor was ready for it. This kind of project coordination is an extension of our warehousing and storage service, but is managed by our project teams.

The result

By November 2025, all 2,000 desks were installed across the full 10 floors, delivered in 8 phases without affecting Barclays day-to-day operations.
